This is, by far, my favourite reply following the email I
sent out letting BBS members know that Meagan is leaving
her position on August 5th, 2016. I received other emails
which all expressed exactly the same sentiment, though
this raw reaction certainly resonates what we are all
feeling in the BBS department.
For those of you who may be new to the BBS
department – welcome, by the way – I’d like to take a
moment and briefly explain this sentiment.
My name is Felicia. I am a teaching professor in the
BBS. I love my job. Scratch that: I LLLLOOOOOVE my job.
Why? Because of the people I work with. Plain and simple.
Who are these people, you might ask? Well they are the
BBS, but in particular the BBS undergraduate program.
These are the people that make up my work bubble as I
interact with them every day of my life. Though I include
our wonderful students (all 400-500) in this bubble, I
would like to take a moment to expand on the core BBS
Don’t worry, it won’t take long. There’s only four of us.
Four women to be exact. We’re all a bit “quirky” shall we
say. We are wildly different and quite spunky but we work
together like cogs in the BBS undergraduate machine.

Sequence of emotions upon hearing THE news
(please note: sequence is shown in a 5’ 3’ direction)
You’ve already met me (Felicia).
Not much to say here: I’m positive,
somewhat funny (though I think
I’m hilarious) and quite optimistic
about all life outcomes. I’ve depicted
myself as a zombie because I love
all things zombie-related.
Michelle is our fearless ring
leader. She has a quote posted on
her office door “me crazy? I should
get down off this unicorn and slap
you”. But don’t let this saying fool
you. She can be tough and fearless
Shari is our administrative
assistant. She is quiet at times, but
boy is she spunky. She also loves to
read … and by read I mean READ.
